Prophet Solomon Adegboyega Alao, the Emeritus Supreme Head of the Cherubim & Seraphim (C&S) Unification Church of Nigeria, has thrown his weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent reorganization of the Nigeria Police Force, specifically lauding the appointment of Tunji Disu as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP).
In a formal statement issued on Monday, the renowned cleric—who also serves as the Baba Alakoso of the Sacred C&S Church—described the President’s choice as a “decisive leadership” move aimed at addressing the nation’s deep-seated security infrastructure failures.
A Call to End Systemic Corruption
While expressing confidence in IGP Disu’s professional capacity, Prophet Alao issued a stern challenge to the new police chief, urging him to “write his name in gold” by tackling the systemic rot within the Force. He pointed specifically to the rampant extortion of motorists on national highways as a primary area requiring immediate reform.
“I am eager to see roadblocks dismantled and the extortion of motorists becoming a thing of the past,” Alao stated. He emphasized that the public expects the mantra “bail is free” to finally transition from a mere slogan to a lived reality for all Nigerians.
The cleric also raised concerns over the disregard for traffic laws by commercial and articulated vehicle drivers, noting that bribery often allows dangerous vehicles to remain on the road, leading to avoidable loss of lives. He called for the strict enforcement of safety regulations, particularly regarding the proper fastening of containers on heavy-duty trucks.
Security and the 2027 General Elections
Beyond administrative reforms, the C&S leader tasked the IGP with intensifying the crackdown on Boko Haram, banditry, and kidnapping—threats he described as direct challenges to Nigeria’s corporate existence.
Looking ahead to the 2027 general elections, Prophet Alao underscored the necessity of a neutral and apolitical police force. He warned against the historical trend of officers “dancing to the tunes of politicians” and insisted that the Force must remain professional to ensure the credibility of future polls. He further urged the IGP to ensure that the police strictly adhere to court judgments across all levels of government.
A Plea for National and Global Peace
Coinciding with the holy seasons of Lent and Ramadan, Prophet Alao called on both Christians and Muslims to utilize this period for intense prayer. He urged the faithful to seek divine intervention for national peace and to pray against the “looming threat” of a global conflict.
“Religion is a personal matter,” the cleric remarked, reminding Nigerians of the importance of mutual appreciation and stability as the country navigates its current security and political landscape.
