LAGOS, Nigeria — The Cherubim and Seraphim (C&S) Unification Church has issued an urgent appeal to the Federal Government of Nigeria to intensify efforts to secure the safe release of 151 of its members currently held in captivity.
Speaking at a press conference held on Monday in Maba, near Lagos, the Supreme Head of the Church, His Eminence, Prophet (Dr.) Emmanuel Abiodun Alogbo, expressed deep concern over the safety of the congregants. The victims were reportedly among those abducted during an attack in Wali, Kaduna State, on January 18.
Prophet Alogbo lamented the devastating impact of insurgency on Nigerian families, noting that the church remains troubled by the continuous loss of innocent lives and the displacement of communities across the nation.
“We are calling on the government to act swiftly and decisively,” the Supreme Head stated. “The safety of these 151 members is our priority, and we urge the relevant security agencies to exhaust all avenues to bring them back home to their families.”
2026 Annual Conference: ‘An Unhidden City’
The press briefing also served as the official announcement for the church’s 2026 Annual Conference, scheduled to begin this Thursday in Lagos. This year’s theme, “An Unhidden City,” was chosen to reflect a vision of transparency, unity, and moral restoration within the country.
According to Prophet Alogbo, the conference will provide a platform for spiritual reflection and practical guidance for both the church and the Nigerian nation. The event is expected to feature sessions on leadership development, youth engagement, nation-building, and social responsibility.
“The theme underscores our commitment to removing divisions and promoting a culture of righteousness and integrity,” Alogbo said. “We believe this gathering will offer the spiritual direction needed to navigate the challenges currently facing our nation.”
As the church prepares for its landmark gathering, the cloud of the Kaduna abductions remains a central focus. The C&S leadership emphasized that while they are moving forward with their spiritual mandate, their prayers and advocacy for the abducted members will remain relentless until their safe return is confirmed.
